On Wednesday, the iPhone 14 series was officially unveiled at Apple’s “Far Out” event. The iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Plus, iPhone 14 Pro, and iPhone 14 Pro Max are the four models that make up the newest series of Apple smartphones, which have been the subject of numerous leaks and rumors over the past few months. The series also includes the first group of iPhone Pro devices with a redesigned front since the iPhone X. The front camera and sophisticated Face ID technology are housed in a pill-shaped cutout that has taken the place of the infamous notch.
The pro models also feature the most recent Apple Bionic A16 SoC, as opposed to the non-pro models, which use Apple A15 Bionic SoCs. E-sim activation is available on the newest smartphones in the US without Wi-Fi. The iPhone models sold in the US won’t have a SIM tray for the first time.
The smartphone also has satellite emergency communication features that let users send SOS messages over the internet. Starting with iPhone 14 in the US and Canada, the feature will be offered without charge for two years. Every phone has a crash-detection feature that will automatically call emergency services if it is activated while the user is unconscious or unable to reach their iPhone.

Specifications of iPhone 14
The iPhone 14 is equipped with the same flat-edge aerospace-grade aluminum frame, Ceramic Shield front material, and IP68 dust and water resistance rating as the previous model. The 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display on the device is allegedly brighter and more accurate in terms of color reproduction than the one on the model from the previous year. Its peak brightness is supposedly 1200 nits, and it is said to support Dolby Vision.
The same A15 Bionic SoC that powered the iPhone 13 series last year also powers the iPhone 14. Only Face ID is still available from Apple as a biometric security method for unlocking phones.
Although Apple does not formally disclose the RAM and battery capacities of each model, independent teardowns in the coming weeks should be able to offer more information. The iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus will reportedly have a longer battery life than the iPhone models from the previous year, according to Apple.
The primary imaging sensor for the iPhone 14 is a 12-megapixel wide-angle camera with a 1.9um sensor and an f/1.7 aperture lens. The 12-megapixel sensor is paired with an f/2.4 ultra-wide angle lens with a 120-degree field of view. The front camera has a new 12-megapixel TrueDepth sensor and an f/1.9 aperture, according to Apple.
Additionally, the company unveiled improvements to video recording and a brand-new stabilization feature called Action Mode for the phones’ cameras. The motion sensors on the phone are better utilized in this mode to correct video. Now available in 4K at 30 and 24 frames per second are the Cinematic mode. Apple also praised the new Photonic Engine’s enhanced performance in low light.
It is claimed that the main camera’s low-light performance has improved by 2.5 times, the TrueDepth front camera’s performance by 2, and the ultra-wide camera’s performance by 2. It applies the computational advantages of Deep Fusion to the imaging process. Furthermore, according to Apple, the upgraded True Tone flash is 10% brighter.
Specifications of iPhone 14 Plus
Similar hardware to that of the iPhone 14 is present in the iPhone 14 Plus, except for a larger screen and battery life. The iPhone 14 Plus has the best battery life of any iPhone ever, according to Apple, and it has a 6.7-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display. The stock iPhone 14’s A15 Bionic SoC is found inside, and both models’ camera systems are the same.
Specifications of iPhone 14 Pro
For the Pro models, Apple reportedly used surgical-grade stainless steel, which is resistant to corrosion and abrasion. Apple’s ProMotion refresh rate technology is used in the iPhone 14 Pro’s 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR Always-On OLED display. To provide a combination of smoother motion and a power-efficient system, the Pro models can scale as low as 1Hz.
The display’s highest outdoor peak brightness is 2,000 nits, which is twice as bright as the iPhone 13 Pro. The Ceramic Shield coating on the front cover of the iPhone 14 Pro is reputed to be more resilient than smartphone glass.
The main display change, as previously mentioned, is the removal of the well-known fashion-setting notch in favor of a pill-shaped hole-punch cutout. It’s called Dynamic Island by Apple, and it’s an “interactive space” that expands for notifications in addition to other information like the music player, calling interface, and Maps, among other things. According to the company, the feature is compatible with apps from third parties.
