Samsung Galaxy S23 series will be powered by Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC

Every year, Samsung launches its flagship Galaxy S-series devices with two different chipset options: the Qualcomm Snapdragon and the Exynos processor developed by the company. Exynos-powered versions are typically targeted at the European and Indian markets, while Snapdragon-powered versions are only sold in the US and China.

But this year, a Snapdragon model was even released in the Indian region. Currently, it appears that Samsung will reintroduce the Snapdragon variant in more markets, including India. Samsung may not even release an Exynos variant, according to a recent report.

Possible chipset and cameras for the Samsung Galaxy S23 series

According to Ming-Chi Kuo, an analyst, Qualcomm is likely to be Samsung’s only processor supplier this year. Therefore, it is highly likely that the Galaxy S23 models from this year will be the only ones to feature Qualcomm Snapdragon.

For those who are unaware, the shipment proportion for models with Snapdragon processors was higher last year and was around 70%. Now that TSMC is producing 4nm chips, the analyst claims that Samsung may opt for a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor for the Galaxy S23.

Kuo claims that the SM8550 (Snapdragon 8 Gen 2) can outperform the Exynos 2300 because it is more optimized and powerful. If this happens, Qualcomm’s SM8550 will have a larger market share in 2023, which will be good for both Qualcomm and TSMC.

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 or SM8550 will have more computing power than the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 and Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, according to the analyst. Having said that, we are looking at a potent and useful chip when considering Snapdragon 8 Gen 2.

The future Samsung Galaxy S23 series may or may not only use Qualcomm processors, according to Samsung. Samsung Mobile President TM Roh did, however, confirm earlier this year that the company would try to use distinctive processors for Galaxy phones. At this time, it is unclear if that testimony applied to the flagship Galaxy S23 models.

However, it’ll take place the following year. The Samsung Galaxy S23 series is most likely to make its debut in Q1 2023. The 200MP Samsung HM1 ISOCELL sensor will be included with the Galaxy S23, according to some of the earliest rumors. Because some concept renders also show what the Galaxy S23 Ultra could look like, a separate story has been written about it.
