Samsung Galaxy S22 FE was sacrificed to make room for the Galaxy S22 Ultra

The South Korean tech giant is said to have discontinued the Samsung Galaxy S22 FE. A recent report suggests that the Galaxy S22 FE, which was previously expected to succeed the Galaxy S21 FE this year, may not launch. It is said that Samsung switched the Galaxy S22 Ultra’s chips from the Galaxy S22 FE. In September 2020, when the Galaxy S20 FE was released, Samsung first introduced the Fan Edition (FE) models. As a scaled-down version of Samsung’s flagship devices, the FE lineup typically makes its debut.

Samsung reportedly scrapped the Galaxy S22 FE to ramp up production of the Galaxy S22 Ultra, according to a report by the Korean publication Etnews. According to rumors, the chips intended for the Galaxy S22 FE were transferred to the Galaxy S22 Ultra to increase the latter’s output. The smartphone manufacturer had previously projected that it would make 3 million Galaxy S22 FE models this year, according to the report. The Samsung Galaxy S22 FE release plan may have been abandoned by Samsung due to a chip shortage and high demand for the Galaxy S22 Ultra.

Next year, Samsung is rumored to release the Galaxy S23 FE. In the second half of next year, three million units should be shipped for the upcoming Fan Edition. Additionally, the company reportedly intends to ship 13 million units of the Galaxy S23 Ultra, 6.5 million units of the Galaxy S23 Plus, and 8.5 million units of the Galaxy S23. In January 2023, the Galaxy S23 series might be unveiled.

Along with the Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S22+, the Galaxy S22 Ultra made its debut in India in February. The starting price for the 12GB RAM + 256GB base model was Rs. 1,09,999. The phone quickly became one of the best-selling models, and according to a recent report, 10.9 million Galaxy S22 Ultra smartphones are believed to have been sold in the first year following their release. The Galaxy S22 Ultra, with a 1.5 percent sales share, is the 5th best-selling smartphone worldwide in April 2022, according to a Counterpoint Research report.
