Nothing Phone (1) powered by Snapdragon 778G+ SoC, transparent back launched

Following numerous leaks and rumors, Carl Pei’s Nothing officially unveiled its first smartphone. The Nothing Phone (1) is a premium-looking, mid-range device with high-end features. Among its notable features are the transparent back panel, Glyph user interface, 120Hz OLED display, and dual rear cameras of the Phone (1).

There are additional storage options for the Nothing Phone (1), which are priced at Rs. 32,999 for the 8GB + 128GB model, Rs. 35,999 for the 8GB + 256GB model, and Rs. 38,999 for the 12GB + 256GB model.

Customers who place a preorder will pay less for the phone. The lowest-priced variant will set you back Rs 31,999, followed by the mid-priced variant at Rs 34,999, and the most expensive variant at Rs 37,999.

Additionally, HDFC Bank cardholders will immediately save Rs. 2,000 on a full swipe EMI.

The Phone (1) is available in White and Black as color options. Starting on July 21 at 7 PM, Flipkart will have the smartphone for sale.

The Nothing Power 45W charging adapter and Nothing Ear (1) Stick, which normally cost Rs. 2,499 and Rs. 6,999, will be made available for Rs. 1,499 and Rs. 5,999, respectively, to those who pre-ordered the phone.

One of the distinctive design elements of the Nothing Phone (1) is its transparent back panel. A further 900 LEDs on the device’s back flash when notifications are received. The Glyph interface is not used to describe this. The LEDs on the Glyph interface will blink in a variety of patterns.

The phone’s 6.55-inch Full-HD+ punch-hole display has a refresh rate of 120 Hz and a touch sampling rate of 240 Hz. The OLED panel is flexible, and the bezels are symmetrical. The display supports 1 billion colors, has HDR10+ certification, reaches 1200 nits of peak brightness, and has a pixel density of 402 PPI. The display also serves as an in-display fingerprint scanner, which adds another level of security. On the front and back of the phone, Corning Gorilla Glass 5 is used as protection, and the frame is made of aluminum.

8GB or 12GB of RAM, 128GB or 256GB of internal UFS 3.1 storage, and an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G+ SoC are all present. Since neither is supported by default on the Snapdragon 778G+, Nothing has teamed up with Qualcomm to add customized wireless and reverse wireless charging to the Nothing Phone (1). A 4,500mAh battery and charging rates of 33W wired, 15W wireless, and 5W reverse wireless are included in the device.

The front camera of the Dual-Camera Nothing Phone (1) has a 50MP Sony IMX766 Primary Lens. The F/1.8 aperture of this primary lens supports 10-bit color videos. It works with a 50MP Samsung JN1 ultra-wide lens. Its front selfie camera is a 16MP Sony IMX 471 model. Night Mode and Scene Detection are two features of the phone’s rear cameras. It can also capture 4K videos at 30 frames per second. Interestingly, users can use the Glyph Interface in addition to the LED flash to illuminate the shots while taking pictures.

The Android 12 OS and Nothing OS are installed on top of each other when the Nothing Phone (1) boots up. There is no assurance that the gadget will receive software updates or security updates for three or four years, respectively.

It regrettably lacks a headphone jack despite having dual stereo speakers. This 5G phone has a dual-SIM slot, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, and NFC capabilities. Water-resistance is indicated by the IP53 rating.
