Snapchat is preparing to launch a paid subscription service called “Snapchat Plus” for its users. Subscribers to this service will gain access to exclusive features, according to 9to5Google. Alessandro Paluzzi, a developer, and researcher was the first to report this.
Benefits and features of Snapchat Plus, which will be available soon
Snap, for example, has confirmed to The Verge that the subscription plan is being tested internally. This plan is expected to provide early access to new public features as well as exclusive features. “We’re doing early internal testing of Snapchat Plus, a new subscription service for Snapchatters,” according to the official statement. We’re looking forward to sharing exclusive, experimental, and pre-release features with our subscribers, as well as learning more about how we can better serve our community.”
The company has kept the details of the exclusive features under wraps. Snapchat Plus subscribers are expected to be able to pin friends to the top of their list, use exclusive icons, and display a special badge on their profile. They’ll also be able to see how many times your Story has been viewed.
Paluzzi has shared a few screenshots, implying that the monthly subscription service will cost €4.59. (approx Rs 377). Buyers will also receive a discount depending on whether they choose a semi-annual or annual plan. Because Snap hasn’t confirmed any of it, these figures could change.
For the uninitiated, Instagram is currently testing the same subscription plans as Snapchat, but only for creators. Creators will be able to “develop deeper connections with their most engaged followers and grow their recurring monthly income by giving subscribers access to exclusive content and benefits” with Subscriptions, according to Instagram.
According to rumours, creators will be able to charge anywhere from $0.99 (roughly Rs 73.2) to $99 (roughly Rs 7,361) depending on how much they believe their content is worth.
