Xiaomi’s Redmi Book Pro laptop lineup is rumored to be getting a refresh in 2022. Xiaomi, according to reports, has confirmed that the new Redmi-branded laptops will be released in China this week on the Chinese social media platform Weibo. The Redmi Book laptop line was launched in India last year, implying that once the new units are released in China, they will likely be released in India as well this year.

The Redmi Book Pro (2022) lineup will be unveiled in China on Thursday, March 17 at 7 p.m. Beijing time, according to reports. “This time, the RedmiBook Pro is poised to be upgraded, to challenge the peak performance of thin and light notebooks for your reckless love, and to create a ruthless character with soaring combat power, whose performance is beyond imagination,” Xiaomi teases on Weibo.

According to the teaser post, the Redmi Book Pro laptops (2022) will compete in the thin and light segment. In terms of specifications, Xiaomi and Redmi’s laptops have always been positioned as a value proposition, competing with higher-priced offerings. It’ll be interesting to see if Redmi goes after the ultrabook market with slimmer offerings this year than in previous years.

According to a recent Geekbench 5 benchmark report, one of the laptop SKUs could be powered by the 12th generation Intel Core i7-12650H CPU. This processor SKU is a 10-core setup with six performance cores, 4.7GHz boost clock speed, and 45W throughput, implying that the Redmi Book Pro (2022) lineup may include higher-performance variants. The laptop outperformed previous Redmi Book laptops on the platform, and the Intel 12th generation processor provides significant efficiency gains.

Previously, the Bluetooth SIG website revealed two ‘Pro’ variants of the Redmi Book laptop line, implying at least three 14-inch and four 15-inch models. This implies that there will be a large number of artists on the bill. All other information, on the other hand, is being kept under wraps for now and will be revealed in about two days.
