Nothing Phone (1) Powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon Processor, Nothing OS Launches in Summer

Nothing recently held its “The Truth” event, during which it announced that it has raised $140 million to date and revealed more information about its upcoming products. The company has remained tight-lipped about its future plans until now when it finally revealed that it is working on a new smartphone, an Android launcher, and more.

Nothing founder Carl Pei stated at the event that the company aims to be the most compelling alternative to Apple. The company is currently developing its first smartphone, dubbed the Nothing phone (1), according to one of the most interesting announcements made at the event.

Nothing phone (1)

Nothing phone (1) will be released in the summer of 2022. The company did not provide us with a specific release date or information about which markets it will be available in. The company claims that the device will have a unique design that will break up the monotony of slabs, but nothing more than a strange drawing has been revealed about the design.

The device will be powered by an unnamed Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset and will run Android with the company’s own Nothing OS skin on top, which will be fast, smooth, and free of bloatware, according to the company. Three years of operating system updates and four years of security updates are guaranteed for the device. The Nothing OS will be tightly integrated with the Nothing ecosystem that the company is attempting to create with its products; however, the integration will be limited to the ear (1) TWS for the time being.

Next month, the Nothing Launcher will be available for select Android phones, giving users a taste of Nothing OS.

Apart from that, the company hasn’t said much about the upcoming smartphone, but previous reports suggest it will be a spiritual successor to the OnePlus One. It will also be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC and will have a transparent design.

The company did say that it is working on some other product categories that will be revealed soon.

Aside from that, the company announced that the second round of community funding, worth $10 million, will be held soon, with people able to invest their money.
