Google Pixel Watch is expected to have a skin interface feature

This rumor has been circulating for quite some time that Google is working on its first smartwatch. While the Pixel Watch has yet to be released, more details about it are becoming available.

Skin Interface Technology Is Coming To The Google Pixel Watch

The Google Pixel Watch will have a “skin interface,” according to a new leak. If this feature is enabled, users of the Google Pixel Watch will be able to control it with their skin movements.

According to LetsGoDigital, Google filed a patent for “Skin Interface for Wearables: Sensor Fusion to Improve Signal Quality” with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) in 2020. This technique should ideally allow users to interact with their wearable device, such as the upcoming Google Pixel Watch, solely through their body movements. Signals can be transmitted to your smartwatch by tapping your earlobes or rubbing your fingers over the skin around it.

According to the patent for the Google Pixel Watch, if users touch their skin all around their wrist, forearm, or back of the hand, the wristwatch will recognize the movement and perform the task associated with it. This goal could be anything, but Google has yet to say what it hopes to achieve with the “skin interface” movements.

Sensor Fusion Features on the Google Pixel Watch

According to the patent, the device will detect the “mechanical wave” caused by the gesture using an accelerometer and other sensors, which Google has dubbed “Sensor Fusion.”

Recent patents show that tech companies are working to eliminate the need for buttons or touch interfaces on some of their devices, allowing them to recognize and comprehend the user’s intended skin movements. None of these patents have yet been put into effect. Simply put, if you twirl your fingers on your palm, your smartwatch should detect the motion and perform the desired action.

The new gesture input method is currently pending patent approval, and there’s no way of knowing when Google plans to implement it if it is approved. However, given the impending release of the Pixel Watch, it may include this technology, especially since Google has been working on a smartwatch for quite some time. There is no word on when the Pixel Watch will be released at this time.
