Steam Deck will be launched on February 25

Valve has just confirmed that the Steam Deck will be released on February 25, 2022, following a rather surprising reveal in 2017. Valve will begin sending out the first batch of order emails to reservation holders today.

Valve started taking reservations around the same time the Steam Deck was announced, and those who did will get an order email on February 5. Customers will have three days (72 hours) to complete their purchase after receiving the email.

The reservation is given to the next person in line if the customer is unable to complete their purchase within the specified time frame. Customers will receive the first units on February 28th, and new order email batches will be sent out every week after that.

Because the launch is limited to the United States, Canada, the European Union, and the United Kingdom, the console is currently unavailable for reservation in India.

Emails regarding Steam Deck Orders will be sent out weekly

Valve has confirmed that invitations will be sent out on February 25 shortly after 10:00 a.m. PST. Only the Steam Deck model that customers had reserved will be available for purchase. The reservation fee will be deducted from the final cost of the machine.

This is fantastic news for gamers, as the Steam Deck is easily one of the most talked-about gaming devices in the community. It’s mostly cautious optimism with a dash of skepticism thrown in for good measure.

Based on what we’ve seen so far, the Steam Deck appears to be capable of holding its own against AAA titles like Devil May Cry 5. Performance hasn’t seemed to be an issue so far, but we haven’t seen much of the machine in action.

It’ll be interesting to see if Valve decides to reveal more about the system in a detailed hardware breakdown, as Sony did with the PlayStation 5.
