Xiaomi has announced the release of new Redmi K-series flagship smartphones in February. The K50 series will be released in China soon, but the exact date has not yet been determined. The company is expected to unveil multiple smartphones at the event, in addition to the vanilla and Pro K50 models.
The information has yet to be confirmed by Xiaomi. Meanwhile, a new leak has revealed the Redmi K50 Gaming Edition’s specifications. The device will succeed the Redmi K40 Gaming, which was launched as the Poco F3 GT in India.
Specifications for the Redmi K50 Gaming Edition
The Redmi K50 Gaming Edition is expected to be released alongside the K50 and K50 Pro. The device will have a fingerprint scanner on the side, according to Digital Chat Station. In a separate leak, Panda detailed the device’s display and other specifications.
The 6.67-inch OLED display on the K50 Gaming smartphone is expected to be the same as on the predecessor model. It will, however, have curved sides and a Full HD+ resolution. As expected, the phone will support a 120Hz refresh rate. At the top, there will be a tiny hole-punch cutout for the front camera.
A 16MP front camera will be available for selfies and video calls on the tiny cutout. On the back, a triple-camera setup will be installed. The main camera is expected to be either 48MP or 64MP. The camera module will include a 13MP ultrawide camera and a 2MP macro camera.
According to the source, the phone could also feature a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC. It’s said to have a 4700mAh battery and 120W fast charging. It’s worth mentioning that the K40 Gaming Edition came with a Dimensity 1200 SoC. Redmi is also rumored to be working on a phone-based on MediaTek’s new Dimensity 9000 SoC.
The K50 Gaming is said to have a dual VC cooling system as well as trigger buttons for a better gaming experience. Other features of the device are unknown. As more information becomes available, it will be shared.
The phone may be sold under the Poco brand name in India. The Poco F3 GT was previously launched in India as the Redmi K40 Gaming Edition, with identical specifications.
