OnePlus 10R is expected to launch in Q2 2022 with a Dimensity 9000 SoC

The OnePlus 10R is in the works, and the company plans to release it with a MediaTek SoC in India and China. OnePlus underwent a major restructuring last year, with some of its divisions merging with Oppo. The OnePlus 9 series, which included three devices: the OnePlus 9 Pro, 9, and 9R, was released in March 2021.

Only India received the OnePlus 9R. The company did not announce any new phones in the global market later in the year when it usually launches a T series flagship phone; instead, the OnePlus 9RT was unveiled in China and is now available in India. Following the success of the OnePlus 10 Pro in China, the company is planning to release the OnePlus 10 series, which will include the OnePlus 10R. A new report from Android Central has confirmed some details about the upcoming OnePlus 10R.

The MediaTek Dimensity SoC will power the OnePlus 10R

According to an Android Central report, the OnePlus 10 Pro, 10, and 10R will be released globally in early Q2. While previous rumors suggested that the OnePlus 10 would be equipped with the Dimensity 9000 SoC, the new report confirms that the OnePlus 10R will be the device to receive the chip. The OnePlus 10R will be the brand’s only second device to be powered by a Dimensity-based chipset, following the OnePlus Nord 2.

In terms of performance, the Dimensity 9000 competes with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset. It’s an eight-core processor with a 1+3+4 cluster built on a 4nm process. The processors have a peak clock speed of 3.0GHz (Cortex X2), with three performance cores running at 2.85GHz and four efficiency cores running at 1.79GHz. Because the OnePlus 10 and 10 Pro will be released in the United States, a MediaTek chipset isn’t ideal because the Dimensity 9000 has an integrated 5G modem that doesn’t support mmWave. As a result, only Asian markets will be able to purchase the OnePlus 10R.

The report confirms a few specifications, but none of them are surprising. The OnePlus 10R will have a 120Hz AMOLED display of at least 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. By the end of Q2 2022, the device should be available.
