Garena Free Fire Becomes the World’s Most Downloaded Mobile Game in 2021

Garena’s popular battle royale game Free Fire was the most popular mobile gaming title in December 2021. According to the most recent data from app sources published by Sensor Tower, the popular rival of PUBG Mobile and Call of Duty Mobile was the most popular overall game of the month.

Next up was the mobile version of the popular console game Rocket League, followed by Subway Surfers, a long-time favorite. The country with the highest demand for Free Fire was India, which accounted for 26% of all installments.

Top 10 Sensor Tower: Garena Free Fire and Others

Garena Free Fire topped the global top ten, with Rocket League Sideswipe coming in second and Subway Surfers coming in third. Due to strong demand in the Android ecosystem, Zego Global’s ‘Poppy Rope Game’ came in fourth, while Roblox, which has seen a recent surge in popularity, came in fifth overall. From December 2020 to December 2021, however, Free Fire saw a 28 percent increase in downloads.

The remaining five games in Sensor Tower’s top ten list are Race Master 3D, Oil Tanker Truck Driving, Brain Story, Candy Crush Saga, and Antistress. Surprisingly, one of the most popular mobile games in the world, PUBG Mobile, did not make the top ten most downloaded Android games list. Instead, it ranked fifth on the Apple App Store’s popularity list.

Meanwhile, Among Us, a popular Innersloth game was ranked eighth on the App Store popularity list, confirming its popularity. Garena Free Fire did not make the App Store’s top 10 despite being available for download on iOS devices. Free Fire has quickly established itself as one of the best battle royale alternatives to PUBG Mobile, the genre’s pioneer.

Other popular games, such as Gameloft’s Asphalt series and Call of Duty Mobile, do not appear among the most downloaded games in December 2021. India is the largest market for mobile games on both Android and iOS, according to Sensor Tower, with 717.4 million downloads out of 4.9 billion total in December of last year.
