Sony PlayStation 5 console covers have been revealed by Company and will be available in January 2022

Sony was recently found to have patented designs for the PlayStation 5 console cover, and the first collection in the series has now been revealed. The PS5 Console Cover Galaxy Collection will be available in five colour variations starting in January 2022.

The Galaxy Collection, according to the trailer, includes colours such as black, red, pink, blue, and purple. These colour variants’ names will most likely be revealed closer to the launch. Both the standard Playstation 5 and the Digital Edition will have covers. The Galaxy Collection colours correspond to the Dualsense controller colour variations, some of which were only available in limited regions through PlayStation Direct.

Dbrand famously faced legal action from Sony earlier this year, so the release of the console covers hasn’t been without controversy. Dbrand, in particular, was forced to stop selling custom PlayStation faceplates, which they had been selling for months before the PS5’s release. Dbrand’s faceplates were reintroduced to the market, this time with a Sony-focused marketing campaign.

The official Sony PlayStation Console Covers will be available in the United States for $54.99, according to reports (roughly Rs 4,163). Of course, the console cover’s actual retail price will differ from the direct conversion. PlayStation will release new colour variants for the Dualsense in February.

It’ll be interesting to see if the console covers make it to India, and how much they cost if they do. Given the high demand for colour variants for the PS5 faceplates, Sony’s decision to steer customers away from Dbrand and instead offer an official console cover was probably wise.
