Samsung Patents First Smartphone with Folding and Sliding Display Design

Samsung is rumored to be developing a new foldable smartphone. The company currently offers two types of foldable smartphones. Samsung currently offers two foldable smartphones: one with a clamshell foldable display and the other with a book-like folding mechanism. According to previous reports, the company is also working on a foldable smartphone with a dual folding screen. According to Samsung’s latest patent filing, the company may release yet another foldable smartphone with a sliding display mechanism.

Samsung sliding, foldable display smartphone

Samsung could release a new smartphone with a slidable and foldable display. Images of the patented technology have been leaked by the World Intellectual Property Organization. 91Mobiles discovered multiple patent images indicating that the company is working on a smartphone with a screen that extends to the right. The hinge mechanism allows users to fold the sliding display at various angles when it is not in use.

While a rollable motor beneath the display aids the sliding display, a hinge beneath the screen on the right side of the device will enable the folding mechanism.

Samsung Folding and Sliding Smartphon

The folding mechanism allows users to slide and expand the display, or convert it into something similar to Samsung’s “Flex Mode” on the Galaxy Z Fold 3 foldable smartphone.

The fact that a patent has been filed does not mean that the device will be released. It simply means that Samsung is developing the technology and that patents help to protect it from competitors. If the company succeeds in developing a smartphone with a sliding, folding display, it will almost certainly be the first of its kind in the world. Companies like Oppo and LG have already teased smartphones with a sliding display. These devices, on the other hand, have not yet been released. Will Samsung reclaim the number one position? If this is true, only time will tell.
