Oppo’s annual Inno Day event in China has a confirmed launch date. The event will be held on the 14th and 15th of December this year. The company is expected to show off some cutting-edge technology that could be used in future Oppo smartphones and devices at the event. With teasers, the company has begun to tease what to expect from Oppo Inno Day 2021. A new camera module design with a retractable lens is revealed in the latest teaser. Let’s take a closer look at the Oppo smartphone that was teased ahead of Inno Day 2021 and features a retractable camera sensor.

A new retractable camera sensor that protrudes outwards is revealed in a new video teaser posted to the Oppo Twitter account. The device has a 1/1.56″ camera sensor with a 50mm focal length and an f/2.4 aperture, according to the text on the camera module. Oppo’s “self-developed retractable camera” was not discussed in great detail. According to the video teaser, the sensor extends outwards after the camera app is opened. It’s unclear whether this camera sensor will be used for telephoto zoom or just to fit a larger sensor into the camera module.

Despite the camera sensor protruding, the unknown Oppo smartphone will be water-resistant. In addition, the retractable camera module will have some form of drop resistance, according to Oppo’s teaser video. After detecting a fall, we can expect a mechanism similar to that found in pop-up cameras, in which the camera module returns to its original position. At the Inno Day event on December 14, more details about the camera module will be revealed.
The company is also expected to unveil a premium/flagship smartphone at the annual event. It could be the Find X4 series, which is expected to be powered by Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor. Oppo is expected to unveil a new foldable smartphone at its annual event in December 2021.
