According to the company, ColorOS 12, the latest version of Oppo’s Android 12-based operating system, will be available in China in the first quarter of 2022. The Chinese company has listed the handsets that will receive beta and stable versions of ColorOS 12 in the coming year. Several smartphones, including the Oppo Find X3 series, OnePlus 9 series, and Oppo Reno 6 series, have already received the stable version of the new OS. In the meantime, OnePlus co-founder Pete Lau has written a letter to OnePlus users outlining issues with ColorOS updates on older OnePlus devices.
According to the Oppo China website, the ColorOS 12 public beta will begin rolling out on January 17th. The public beta is available for the Oppo Reno 4 series, OnePlus 8 series, and OnePlus 8T. Beginning in February 2022, the public beta will be available for the Oppo Reno 3, Oppo K9 Pro, Oppo K7, and Oppo A72. The Oppo Reno 7 series, Oppo A93s, Oppo A92s, Oppo A56 5G, and Oppo A55 will all be available in beta in March.

Furthermore, starting January 6, the stable update will be available for smartphones such as the Oppo Reno 5 Pro+ 5G and Oppo Reno 5 5G, as well as the Oppo Reno 5 Pro, Oppo Reno 5 Pro, and Oppo A95 5G. The stable version of ColorOS 12 is now available for the Oppo Find X3 series, OnePlus 9 series, and Oppo Reno 6 series, as previously stated.
In the meantime, OnePlus co-founder Pete Lau has written a letter to customers explaining why ColorOS is being delayed for older OnePlus handsets that are still running HydrogenOS. According to him, the company wants to provide a consistent experience as well as a consistent migration process to ensure that users’ data is not lost, so the developers are taking longer to release the updates. According to the ColorOS Q1 2022 rollout plan, only three phones will receive the ColorOS 12 update.
