In an interview earlier this month, Poco’s head of product marketing, Angus Ng, stated that the company plans to expand its ecosystem and launch new wearables and AIoT products in 2022. The company is expected to launch an audio product first (possibly a TWS), followed by power banks and possibly some low-cost wearables. Poco, on the other hand, appears to be planning something even bigger.
According to a new report from 91mobiles, Poco may soon release a laptop in India. According to tipper Mukul Sharma, a Redmi G series laptop battery has been certified by India’s Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS). The event heralds Poco’s first laptop’s arrival in the country.
According to the report, a Redmi G series laptop battery with the build number G16B01W was recently spotted on the BIS website under the Poco branding. The battery has a 3,620mAh capacity, which translates to a 55.02Wh capacity. While this battery appears to be a replacement, Poco may be planning a gaming laptop launch. Nothing has been confirmed as of yet, though.

It’s also worth noting that this isn’t the first time a Poco website has featured a Redmi-branded battery. However, this is the first time since Poco announced its ecosystem expansion. We can deduce that Poco is planning a laptop launch in India soon by connecting the dots. For the time being, however, these should be treated with caution.
The Redmi G 2021 gaming laptop’s 16-inch display has a 144Hz refresh rate. It is powered by an Intel Core i5-11260H processor and has 16GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage. There’s also an AMD Ryzen 7 5800 with 8GB of RAM and 512GB of storage.
Apart from the product lineup, Poco is developing more customizations that will be exclusive to Poco devices.
