Amazon’s Twitch, the world’s largest streaming platform, has been hacked. The platform’s source codes, the income of publishers before deductions and taxes for the previous three years, as well as user information and passwords, were all leaked. The total size of the files is 125 GB.
Twitch, Amazon’s live-streaming platform that was acquired in 2014 and now forms a big part of Amazon Gaming, was hit by one of the biggest data breaches in recent memory. According to a 4chan post by The Verge, the attacker’s identity remains unknown.
Information about payments made to publishers over the last three years, source codes of mobile, desktop, and console applications, SDK and AWS infrastructures, and, most importantly, important information about Amazon’s Steam rival platform, which has yet to be released, are among the leaked documents.
The following is the information found in the first 125 GB file associated with the Twitch hack:
- In the last three years, total payments (total revenues) received by Twitch streamers,
- Twitch.tv’s entire desktop and browser app,
- All source codes for mobile, desktop and game console applications are available.
- Twitch SDKs, codes for Amazon Web Services services, etc.
- Amazon has yet to announce a Steam rival game library, processor, or store: Vapour is a type of gas (codename),
- Twitch employs a variety of security tools.
- Twitch-owned platforms like IGDB and CurseForge have all of the data and source code.
Sources from The Verge and Video Game Chronicles have confirmed the developments. The information also states that the leak has been ongoing since Monday, October 4, and that Twitch is aware of the situation.
How much do Twitch streamers earn?
NOTE: Due to a breach of personal data, we are unable to share publisher revenue by name. Thank you for your patience in this situation.
According to reports, Turkey’s highest-paid publisher has made more than $510k since 2019. The total income for three years drops to $100,000 near the bottom of the top ten. Furthermore, Turkey’s highest-paid publishers rank among the world’s top 250-300. When we look at the world as a whole, we can see that the publisher with the highest income earned 750 thousand dollars in September alone.
