Samsung W22 5G Foldable Phone Launched with S Pen Support, Snapdragon 888 SoC

In China, the Samsung W22 5G, a customized version of the Galaxy Z Fold 3, has gone on sale. The new Samsung phone, which is the successor to last year’s Samsung W21 5G, comes with an S Pen and is designed specifically for the Chinese market. Although the hardware of the Samsung W22 5G is very similar to that of the Galaxy Z Fold 3, it has some software differences, such as unique themes and wallpapers, as well as a slightly different design with a Black-Gold colour scheme, to provide a unique experience. The SamsungW22 5G also lacks Google Mobile Services and Samsung’s ‘Galaxy’ branding.

Price and availability of the Samsung W22 5G

The SamsungW22 5G 16GB + 256GB storage variant costs CNY 16,999. (roughly Rs. 1,98,800). Phantom Black with a textured gold hinge is the phone’s colour option. In China, pre-orders are now being taken, with shipments starting on October 22.

Aside from the SamsungW22 5G, the regular Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 is available in China for CNY 14,999 (roughly Rs. 1,75,300) for the single 12GB + 512GB storage configuration. On the other hand, the original model lacks the custom options found on the new W-series phone.

Specifications of Samsung W22 5G

The Samsung W22 5G is very similar to the Galaxy Z Fold 3 in terms of specs. A 7.6-inch QXGA+ (2,208×1,768 pixels) foldable AMOLED display and a 6.2-inch HD+ (832×2,268 pixels) cover display are featured on the phone. The foldable display also supports the S Pen. An octa-core SoC, 16GB of RAM, and 512GB of internal storage are included in the Samsung W22 5G.

For photos and videos, the SamsungW22 5G has a triple rear camera setup with 12-megapixel sensors and optical image stabilization (OIS). On top of the cover is a 10-megapixel selfie camera, and beneath the foldable display is a 4-megapixel selfie camera.

The Samsung W22 5G has 5G, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth v5.2, NFC, Ultra-Wideband (UWB), and a USB Type-C port as well as other connectivity options. A fingerprint sensor is also located on the phone’s side. It has a 4,400mAh battery capacity. The phone also folds to 158.2×67.1x16mm when folded and unfolds to 158.2×128.1×6.4mm when unfolded. It weighs 288 grams.
