OPPO ColorOS 12 based on Android 12 global launched officially

After releasing the China-specific version of ColorOS 12, an Android 12-based custom ROM, in September, Oppo released the global version on Monday. Oppo’s new operating system (OS) will be released in India in November, as well as other rollout plans, according to the company. ColorOS 12 now supports 13 major Indian languages in addition to 54 others. According to Oppo, its Android 12-based operating system includes stock Android features such as Material You. The Oppo Find X3 Pro will be the first smartphone to receive the ColorOS 12 public beta update. The new OS includes numerous privacy, security, and productivity features in addition to a redesigned user interface (UI).

Schedule for the global rollout of ColorOS 12

The ColorOS 12 global version, which is based on Android 12, will be available for Oppo and OnePlus. It will first be available as a public beta update for users of the Oppo Find X3 Pro in Indonesia, Malaysia, and Thailand. The public beta update for the new OS will arrive in India next month, starting with the Oppo Reno 6, Oppo Reno 6 Pro, and Oppo Reno 6 Pro Diwali Edition, according to Oppo. The rest of the devices and markets will have received the update by the second half of 2022. According to Oppo, the new ColorOS will be available to more than 110 devices and 150 million users.

The global version of ColorOS 12 includes the following features:

ColorOS 12 is an updated version of Oppo’s ColorOS operating system with softer icons and animations. Oppo’s Infinite Design concept is at the heart of it. Material You also use Android 12’s theming system, which is based on wallpapers. Oppo has included App Cloner in the latest version of ColorOS. ColorOS 12 has been made more developer-friendly by the addition of free camera SDKs that cover ultra-steady video shooting, HDR, super wide-angle photography, and other features. It has also become more developer-friendly thanks to HyperBoost and color vision enhancement.

The privacy and security features of ColorOS 12 have also been improved. There are also privacy dashboards, approximate location sharing, and microphone and camera indicators. Oppo’s Private System, Private Safe, App Lock, and other privacy-related features are also included in ColorOS 12. According to Oppo, its privacy features are also ePrivacy and ISO27001 certified.

ColorOS 12 also comes with a Phone Manager for increased productivity and a three-finger Google Lens translation feature. According to Oppo, the new OS consumes 30% less memory and 20% less battery power on average. Oppo’s new operating system has a 2.75 percent system ageing rate.

ColorOS 12 was first announced in September, with a release date in China and a feature set that was largely the same. It also gets Quick View cards and new shortcuts like clicking to switch to a small window, double-clicking to switch to full screen, and adjusting the size of the floating window. Also included is Omoji, a new 3D avatar feature.
