At its Pixel Fall Launch event on Tuesday, October 19, Google unveiled the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro. Tensor, Google’s proprietary system-on-chip (SoC), is present in both new Google Pixel phones and is designed to outperform previous-generation Pixel phones in terms of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML). The Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro also features a camera bar on the back rather than a square or rectangular module. Both of the new models have a hole-punch display and come with Android 12 pre-installed. With an IP68 rating, the new Pixel phones are dust and water-resistant.
Price and availability details of Google Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro
The Pixel 6 will set you back $599 (roughly Rs. 45,000), while the Pixel 6 Pro will set you back $899. (roughly Rs. 67,500).
The Pixel 6 comes in three colour options: Kinda Coral, Sorta Seafoam, and Stormy Black, while the Pixel 6 Pro comes in Cloudy White, Sorta Sunny, and Stormy Black.
The Google Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro will go on sale on October 28 in the United States, with pre-orders starting today. The precise date of their arrival in other markets is still unknown. The price and availability of the Pixel 6 series in India are also unknown at this time.
Specifications of the Pixel 6
The Google Pixel 6 is a smartphone with two SIM cards (Nano+eSIM) that runs Android 12. It has a 6.4-inch full-HD+ OLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate and Corning Gorilla Glass Victus protection on top. The display has a pixel density of 441ppi and a 20:9 aspect ratio. The phone has a Google Tensor processor and 8GB of LPDDR5 RAM. The dual rear camera setup includes a 50-megapixel primary sensor with an f/1.85 wide-angle lens and a 12-megapixel ultra-wide sensor. The rear camera setup includes laser detect autofocus (LDAF) and optical image stabilization (OIS). A front-facing camera sensor with an f/2.0 lens is also included in the Pixel 6.

Google will partner with Snap later this year to offer a feature called ‘Quick Tap to Snap,’ which will allow users to capture Snaps for Snapchat even when the phone is locked and in ‘Camera Only’ mode. Snapchat will also release augmented reality (AR) lenses to help with artifacts in photos.
In addition to Snap-powered camera features, the Pixel 6 has a feature called Magic Eraser that helps remove unwanted people and other objects from a processed photo. Preloaded features include Motion Mode, which includes preset Action Pan and Long Exposure options, and Real Tone, which claims to use software algorithms to provide accurate colours. Two of Google’s exclusive camera-focused features on the phone are Face Unblur and Manual white balancing.

For content storage, the Pixel 6 has 128GB and 256GB of onboard storage. Connectivity options include 5G, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth v5.2, GPS/ A-GPS, NFC, and a USB Type-C port. The display has a fingerprint sensor built-in. Other sensors onboard include an accelerometer, ambient light, barometer, pyrometer, magnetometer, and proximity sensor.
Live Translate, which allows you to translate messages and photos without having to connect to the internet, is also preloaded on the Pixel 6.
The Pixel 6 has a 4,614mAh battery with 30W wired fast charging and 21W wireless fast charging capabilities. The Pixel 6 also has a Battery Share feature that allows users to use the Pixel 6 to charge other devices wirelessly. This sounds similar to Samsung Galaxy flagships’ Wireless PowerShare. In addition, the Pixel 6 measures 157.6×74.8×8.9mm and weighs 207 grams.

The Pixel 6 Pro is a dual-SIM (Nano+eSIM) phone with a 6.7-inch QHD+ (1,440×3,120 pixels) LTPO OLED display with a variable refresh rate of 10Hz to 120Hz. The additional telephoto camera on the Pixel 6 Pro is said to offer 20x Super Res Zoom (4x optical zoom).

For selfies and video chats, the Pixel 6 Pro has a front-facing 11.1-megapixel selfie camera sensor with an f/2.2 lens.
The Pixel 6 Pro, like the Pixel 6, comes with Magic Eraser, Motion Mode, Real Tone, Face Unblur, and other custom camera features as standard. Other Snapchat features, such as Quick Tap to Snap, will be added in the future.
