OnePlus 9 Series Now Has Hasselblad XPan Panorama Mode With New Update

The OnePlus 9 series was announced by OnePlus earlier this year. The OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro, the company’s most recent flagship devices, feature premium hardware that will be available on any 2021 flagship smartphone. For the OnePlus 9 series, OnePlus partnered with legendary camera maker Hasselblad to improve camera performance. The company stated at the time of the launch that it would continue to work with Hasselblad to improve the camera performance and tuning on the OnePlus 9 series. The 9 series has received a new XPan Mode months after its launch.

This new mode on the Hasselblad Camera for Mobile was created to mimic the experience of using Hasselblad’s XPan camera, which combined the benefits of the 35mm format with the ability to switch to full panorama format without changing the film.

The aspect ratio of photos taken in XPan mode is 65:24, which is the same as the original XPan camera. With a preview from the viewfinder on the OnePlus camera app, users of the OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro can shoot panoramic images at 30mm and 45mm final lengths. OnePlus claims to have recreated the XPan camera’s unique details to give users a true Hasselblad XPan experience on their phone.

Instead of the default 12MP mode, images taken with the XPan mode are cropped from the 48MP and 50MP sensors. The result is a high-resolution image with a resolution of over 20MP. On 30mm, XPan images have a resolution of 7552 2798 pixels, while 45mm images have a resolution of 7872 2916 pixels.

Two-color modes

In addition to a color mode and a unique black and white mode, OnePlus is introducing two film simulation profiles for the XPan mode. The XPan mode starts in black and white, mimicking the tone and style of traditional black and white film used in XPan cameras. With Hasselblad, the color mode has also been improved. Users can choose between color, black and white, and color and black and white, depending on their preferences.

Finally, when pictures are taken with the XPan mode, they are first saved as a negative film, which is then developed into an image that can be saved on your phone. OnePlus stated that it did so to honor the filmmaking process.
