It appears that a PlayStation Plus subscription is not required to play the Battlefield 2042 Open Beta on PS4 and PS5: Sony home console owners will be able to jump right into the action without the need to activate a subscription. Moreover, despite the recent removal of the subscription obligation in free-to-play titles, Redmond players who wish to participate in the Open Beta of Battlefield 2042 will need to have an active Xbox Live Gold or Game Pass Ultimate subscription.

While we’re at it, we’d like to remind you that the Battlefield 2042 Open Beta will be available for pre-download on Tuesday, October 5th at 9:00 a.m. Early Access will begin at 9:00 a.m. on October 6 for those who have pre-ordered the full game and EA Play / Game Pass Ultimate subscribers, followed by general admission at 9:00 a.m. on October 8. The Open Beta will end on October 9th, the following day. On the Orbital map, participants will be able to participate in the Conquest mode, putting themselves in the shoes of four different operators. Instead, the full game will be released on November 19th.
