Manu Kumar Jain, the CEO of Xiaomi India, has officially announced the Mi Smarter Living 2022 event. The Smarter Living event has been held annually by Xiaomi since 2018, and it is one of the largest annual hardware showcase events held by India’s largest smartphone vendor (and globally, as of June 2021). While the event has been confirmed for this year, no official dates have been announced. The Mi Smarter Living 2022 event is expected to take place in September, which is the same time frame as the previous edition of the showcase.
There is a lot of speculation about what Xiaomi will bring to India this year in terms of hardware. The company has released some intriguing products around the world, with the Mi Mix 4 smartphone being one of the most recent highlights. In China, it also unveiled the Mi Pad 5 tablet lineup, which is joined with the new Mi Notebook series. A new Mi OLED TV series of smart TVs, as well as the Mi Band 6 smart fitness tracker, are also available. All of this could be included in the Smarter Living 2022 lineup, which will be revealed soon.
The Xiaomi Mi Mix 4 is expected to be a hot topic at the event. The smartphone is one of the first to be commercially released with an under-display front camera, as well as other standard but flagship-level specs. With a new ‘Pro’ variant featuring a 3.5K resolution display, 11th generation Intel processors, and even an entry-level Nvidia RTX 3050 Ti GPU, the Mi Notebook series is expected to attract a lot of attention in India. The Mi Band 6 is also very likely to be released, as the Mi Band series has proven to be quite popular since its inception — and demand for low-cost fitness trackers is likely to be higher than it has ever been.
It’ll be interesting to see if Xiaomi unveils its new OLED TV lineup at the Smarter Living event. After the initial series of OLED Mi TVs were designed as a premium, luxury offerings, the latter was tipped to be a more mainstream OLED TV from the Chinese manufacturer. More information should become available as teasers in the coming days, as the event is expected to take place in the coming weeks.
