Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 now has an official walkie-talkie app

When it comes to features and health tracking, the Apple Watch is miles ahead of the competition. Android wearables, on the other hand, are doing their best to keep up with the changing trends. Samsung appears to have released a new app for the Galaxy Watch 4, bringing it one step closer to the Apple Watch. For years, the Apple Watch has had a Walkie Talkie feature, and it’s fantastic to see Samsung bringing it to the Galaxy Watch 4.

On your Galaxy Watch 4, you can use Samsung’s new Walkie Talkie App to have conversations with your contacts

Samsung announced the Galaxy Watch 4 and Galaxy Watch 4 Classic just a few weeks ago. Both models run the WearOS 3 operating system, which allows them to access the Google Play Store. Samsung has taken advantage of the Play Store utility to launch the official Walkie Talkie app to improve the Galaxy Watch 4. (via XDA).

Samsung’s new Galaxy Watch 4 app simply turns the device into a push-to-talk Wakie Talkie, allowing users to have real-time conversations with their contacts. To use the app, these contacts must also have a Galaxy Watch 4. You’ll also need a Samsung account to use the Walkie Talkie app because it’s a Samsung app.

Samsung has not released any information about the Walkie Talkie line at this time. While the Watch is connected to your phone, Samsung recommends using the app. After you’ve set it up, you can use the Walkie Talkie app on your Galaxy Watch 4 on its own. Because the app also allows you to search for nearby friends using Bluetooth, you’ll need to enable location access.

From the Play Store, you can get the Walkie Talkie app for your Galaxy Watch 4. Folks, that’s all there is to it. Do you believe Samsung’s version of the Walkie Talkie is superior to Apple’s? Please let us know in the comments section.
