Realme MagDart Magnetic Wireless Charging appeared on Video

Realme MagDart is set to launch soon, and the new wireless charger lineup is expected to include fast charging in addition to the standard wireless charging technology. The charging speed of the Realme MagDart has been teased in a new sample video, and the overall results are fairly impressive.

According to a report by XDA Developers, the charger takes three minutes to charge a sample device by 8% — from 18 to 26 percent. This, combined with a second shot that reveals the alleged Realme MagDart’s charging specifications, suggests that the device’s overall wireless charging speed could be quite fast.

The device shown appears to be the Realme Flash, according to the video. The latter will be the company’s first magnetic wireless charging smartphone, a feature inspired by Apple’s new generation MagSafe, which debuted with the iPhone 12 series. While Apple has so far only managed to offer a wireless charging speed of 10W, Realme’s MagDart feature promises to provide ‘fast’ wireless charging for supported devices. It is expected that the Realme Flash smartphone will be the first to do so.

According to the XDA report, charging the sample device’s battery, which is estimated to be 5,000mAh, would take less than an hour with the MagDart charger (if it is the Realme Flash in the video). Further information on the wireless charger’s performance indicates that it has a real-world charging power output of 35W and a peak power capacity of 50W.

If true, the overall charging speed that Realme has managed to achieve with its own magnetic fast charging technology would be quite impressive. While today’s wired fast charging technology allows for many faster charging speeds, a 35W charger would still be considered “quick.”

While Realme may have checked the charging speed box, the company still has a long way to go before the product can be considered a success. Magnetic charging has the potential to generate heat, and it’s unclear how Realme will address this.

The impact of fast, magnetic wireless charging on battery life has yet to be determined. Finally, even with fast charging performance, it’s safe to assume that the Realme MagDart will not become a universal standard feature and that the only way for users to get it is to own one of the upcoming, rumored Realme phones that will include it.
