Xiaomi debuted the Mi 11 series earlier this year. The company released some smartphones as part of its flagship series. The Mi 11 Lite and Mi 11 Ultra were among the devices that made their way to India. In India, Xiaomi also released the Redmi K40 and Redmi K40 Pro+ as the Mi 11X and Mi 11X Pro. The Mi 11 in vanilla has yet to arrive in India. At this time, Xiaomi has made no plans to bring the Mi 11 to India. Meanwhile, information about the device’s successor has already surfaced on the internet. Let’s take a look at the Xiaomi Mi 12 specs, features, and other information that has leaked ahead of time.
Specifications of the Xiaomi Mi 12
Xiaomi is expected to release the Mi 12 later this year or in early 2022. Some information about the device has been leaked online ahead of its release. According to a new report, the Snapdragon 898 SoC will power the upcoming Xiaomi flagship smartphone. Xiaomi has collaborated with Qualcomm in recent years to be among the first to release a flagship phone with a top-tier processor. It wouldn’t be surprising if Qualcomm’s next-best mobile SoC was used in the Mi 11 successor.
Another detail revealed is the use of the recently released LPDDR5X RAM. This week, the ‘X’ version of LPDDR5 was unveiled. The maximum data rate is increased from 6,400 Mbps to 8,533 Mbps. It performs twice as well as LPDDR4X RAM.
LPDDR5X RAM is currently not supported by the Snapdragon 888 and Snapdragon 870 chips. As a result, the upcoming Qualcomm Snapdragon SoC, codenamed Snapdragon 898, is expected to support LPDDR5X.
The SD898 SoC’s specifications were recently leaked. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 898 will have a four-cluster core layout, with 1+3+2+2 being the most common configuration. The SoC would have four efficiency cores in this configuration, two with a high-frequency clock and two with lower frequencies. The main performance cores would be the three cores in the middle of the structure, which would be supported by the one, peak performance core. The ARM X2 core is expected to be used in the latter, with a clock speed of 3.09GHz, according to the report.
In addition, the Mi 12 series (most likely the Mi 12 Ultra) is expected to include a Samsung 200MP primary camera. The sensor is said to be one inch in diameter, making it the world’s largest. To produce 12MP images, the camera will support 16-in-1 pixel binning.
