Micromax is preparing to release its first personal audio product, dubbed the Micromax Air Funk. Micromax co-founder Rahul Sharma announced on Twitter earlier today that, in addition to the upcoming In 1b smartphone, the company will be releasing two new true wireless earbuds under the aforementioned series. The earbuds’ designs were also revealed in Sharma’s teaser video, which showed five color variants for each and two different charging case styles.
The audio capabilities of the true wireless earbuds in question, however, are unknown at this time. The Micromax Air Funk earbuds could come with noise cancellation, based on the tags Sharma used in his Twitter post. Active noise cancellation is becoming more affordable, with devices like the Realme Buds Q2 starting at Rs 2,499 and up. Micromax’s new Air Funk TWS earbuds may be able to compete with Realme by providing a similar experience.
Other tags suggest that the Air Funk earbuds may have gaming features, which would indicate that low latency sound and Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM) are included in the feature set. Low latency modes have also become increasingly popular in the budget true wireless audio space, thanks to the rise in mobile gaming in India.
One of the two Air Funk earbuds features a flatter charging case, similar to the Skullcandy Sesh TWS pair. The other has a rounded shape, similar to the charging case design of the Realme Buds Air. White, lilac, cyan, yellow, and black appear to be available for the one with the flatter charging case, and white, black, red, yellow, and cyan appear to be available for the one with the round charging case.
More information should be available soon, as Micromax is planning a launch event for the In 2b smartphone and two TWS earbuds on July 30 at 12 p.m. According to the teaser, both earbuds will be sold exclusively on Flipkart.
