For users in Delhi, Google Maps has added a new real-time bus service information feature. Users will be able to see exactly when the next bus will arrive at the bus stop, allowing them to better plan their commute. The Delhi Transport Ministry, the Delhi Integrated Multi-Modal Transit System (DIMTS), the Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) Delhi, and Lepton Software have collaborated to bring this useful real-time public bus service feature to Google Maps for Delhi users.
This feature, according to the tech giant, will not only provide information on which bus to take to get from one location to another but also when the next bus will arrive at the stop where the user is waiting. The feature will also provide an estimate of how long the journey will take, as well as whether the bus is running late or on time. Furthermore, Google Transit will automatically update the times to reflect the new circumstances. On Google Maps, arrival times based on real-time information are shown in green or red.

This feature is primarily intended to alleviate the inconvenience of waiting for public transportation. It allows you to better plan your departure and could be a huge help in reducing commuting stress. Open Google Maps on your Android or iOS device to use the real-time bus service information feature. Tap the ‘Go’ icon after entering the destination. Tap the ‘transit’ (the little tram) icon to see times, bus numbers, routes, and real-time arrival information highlighted in green or red.
When you tap a recommended route, you can see more information about the route’s stops. Tap the bus stop to see a list of all arriving buses, with the green or red beacon displaying relevant real-time information. By searching for a specific bus stop, tapping its name, and then tapping the listed bus numbers on Google Maps, you can get real-time bus information. Users will be able to see a list of all arriving buses, with location-enabled buses displaying their current arrival time.
The real-time bus information feature, according to Google, is also available in Hindi. It can be changed in the Google Maps settings or the language settings on the device. Google says it is working with public transportation services in other cities to enable real-time transit information and will announce these as they become available.
