The XG Mobile external GPU module for Asus’s critically acclaimed ROG Flow X13 gaming laptop has finally arrived in India. While the laptop has been available in India for some time, the XG Mobile eGPU finally adds two of the best GPUs currently available. The Asus ROG Flow X13 was marketed as a super portable and easy-to-use gaming laptop without the bulk of one when it was first released, and it featured an AMD Ryzen 9 5000 series processor inside. With the XG Mobile eGPU, Asus has given ROG Flow X13 owners the option of adding the power of an RTX 3070 or RTX 3080 GPU to the laptop, which currently only has a GTX 1650.
Price and availability of the Asus XG Mobile eGPU
The XG Mobile eGPU modules will come in two flavors: an RTX 3070 with 8GB GDDR6 memory and a full-featured RTX 3080 with 16GB GDDR6 memory. They can be purchased separately or as part of an Asus ROG Flow X13 Supernova Edition bundle. The RTX 3080 eGPU unit will be included with the laptop. The following are the availability and exact prices:
- Asus stores, Vijay Sales, Crome, Reliance Digital, and Flipkart will have the RTX 3070 standalone for Rs 69,990 starting in the second half of July 2021.
- RTX 3080 standalone: Rs 1,39,990, available from Asus stores, Vijay Sales, Croma, Reliance Digital, and Flipkart from the second half of July 2021.
- Asus ROG Flow X13 Supernova Edition: Rs 2,69,990 (with RTX 3080 eGPU), available from Asus stores, Vijay Sales, Croma, and Reliance Digital from July 9, and Flipkart in the second half of July 2021.
Key Specifications
The two GPUs mentioned above are available in the Asus XG Mobile eGPU modules. They have an HDMI 2.0 port, one DisplayPort 1.4 port, an Ethernet port, a DC power port, four USB-A 3.2 Gen1 ports, and an SD card reader port for connectivity. The eGPU has an integrated 280W power adapter that must be plugged in when the eGPU is in use, as well as an 8-lane PCIe Gen3 connector and a USB-C combo port. The unit weighs one kilogram and is about three centimeters thick.
The AMD Ryzen 9 5980HS processor, an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650 integrated GPU, 32GB LPDDR4X memory, 1TB M.2 SSD, and a 13.4-inch 4K IPS touchscreen display with 116 percent sRGB color gamut coverage are all included in the Supernova Edition.
