The merger between OnePlus and OPPO was in the air, we have been talking for several months about the possible union of the research and development teams, and today it is finally official. To reveal it and Pete Lau – CEO of OnePlus – through a post on the official forum of the brand.
“Since last year, we have integrated some of our teams in OPPO, in order to simplify some activities and capitalize on shared resources. Sharing the positive impact of these changes, we have chosen to further integrate our organization into OPPO.
I am sure this change will be good for our community and our users. With greater integration in OPPO, we have many more resources to create better products for you. It will also allow us to be more efficient and – for example – to ensure faster and more stable software updates for users. “
In short, Pete Lau seems enthusiastic about this merger, but he is keen to point out that the work of the two brands remains distinct and that OnePlus will continue to produce devices in complete autonomy. The OnePlus brand will continue to exist and be completely independent from OPPO, the two Chinese brands will collaborate relying on the same research and development team
For now, we don’t know much more about OnePlus’s future, but there shouldn’t be any particular changes for consumers.
