Apple AR headset

In 2022, Apple could release its augmented reality headset. The rumored AR headset will debut in 2022, according to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. According to a MacRumors report citing Kuo’s investor note, the launch has been pushed back to Q2 2022. The analyst had predicted the launch for late 2021, but it was later pushed back to Q1 2022. “In 2Q22, we expect Apple to release AR HMD [head-mounted display] devices. The device will provide a video see-through AR experience, which necessitates the use of a lens, and Genius is a key supplier,” Kuo wrote in his investor note. The wide-angle and telephoto camera lenses for the upcoming iPhone 13 lineup will be supplied by the same company.

The mixed-reality headset will deliver an ultra-high resolution 8K display by combining virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR). It is also said to come with interchangeable headbands, allowing users to customize it to their liking. Other rumors include an advanced eye-tracking feature that will only display images on the part of the screen where the user is looking. A dozen cameras will be installed inside and outside the headset to track hand movement and provide a seamless experience. AR Glasses, a sleeker version, are expected to be released in 2025.

The headset was expected to cost around USD 3,000 when it was first announced (Rs 2,18,600). At USD 499, the AR Glasses, on the other hand, will be relatively inexpensive (Rs 36,300).
