In these hours, the details relating to the patent of a Xiaomi smartphone with a double screen and integrated sliding slider have emerged.
Xiaomi has just patented a Dual Side Slider smartphone with a secondary display. This new phone features a dual side slide mechanism and also sports an auxiliary panel. The company filed the patent in January 2021 and it was only published last week.
Xiaomi: the patent of a revolutionary phone
According to a report by LetsGoDigital, the Chinese tech giant has patented a unique and futuristic device that boasts a sliding mechanism that works in two directions. Put simply, the device has a part of it that slides from both the left and right sides of the device; hence the term “Dual Screen Slider.
Looking at the images shared within the patent, one of the most interesting aspects of this device, apart from its double lateral slider, is a different purpose that each has.
When the user swipes the device to the right, a camera module can be observed. On the other hand, the left side of the slide mechanism discovers a smaller secondary display. This display is narrow but as tall as the main display. The smartphone looks like any other device on the market but with an auxiliary panel that covers the entire front area. No front camera or other seams are noticeable, which is to be expected as the selfie snapper is housed on the slide mechanism.
Notably, there is no rear camera module on the rear panel, but image sensors are also housed on the slide module. The front has three holes for as many optics.
This gives the device a decidedly minimal and futuristic look. Unfortunately, it is not known whether Xiaomi is actually working on such a device or covering all the bases. But the brand is known for unveiling innovative smartphone designs, we may see a similar concept in the future, but this is just speculation and we invite you to take it with ” a pinch of salt “.
