In these hours, thanks to SvetApple’s potale, we can have a first look at what could be the design of Apple’s future Mac Pro.
Next month Apple will hold one of its largest conferences of 2021 in the form of the Worldwide Developer Conference. This year the conference will be virtual due to the Covid-19 pandemic, but that will not prevent the company from releasing the news on its software and releasing new products.
Apple: what to expect from WWDC?
That’s right, a traditional developer-centric fair is now a good place for the Cupertino-based OEM to showcase new products, unlike in the past. According to rumors, Tim Cook’s company will present the brand new Apple Silicon M2 (or M1X) at the event. It will reveal new products including a redesigned new Mac Pro with its latest ARM64 chip. Stunning high-quality renders have emerged today showing what we can expect from the new computer.
One of the direct benefits of using an ARM platform is the fact that this platform allows Apple to reduce the size of computers. For this reason, the new Mac Pro should ” miniaturize ” significantly, taking advantage of the new architecture. However, performance will be noticeably better than iterations that came with Intel processors, some of which are still available for purchase. The MacBook Pro introduced a new standard for Apple computers after the very successful reception of the Apple M1.
The Mac Pro could be another revolutionary solution and, as usual, the company wants to offer a premium experience within a very refined product.
The rendering of the concept that emerged on the net shows a Mac Pro that looks anything but a traditional computer. Of course, we’re already used to the unconventional design language established by the Mac Pro range. The device has two metal handles across the top. It also carries a power button which appears to be capacitive. Additionally, there are two USB Type-C Thunderbolt 3 ports. Finally, the top also has an LED and a pull-out handle to remove the aluminum frame.
According to whistleblower Jon Prosser, the redesigned Mac Pro will be similar in size to three Mac mini computers stacked on top of each other. This theory was used by svetapple. SK to create a concept that looks like a simple cube with rounded edges. Since this is a Mac Pro, the creators of the image have added some iconic design elements, such as the handles and the ventilation grille that resembles a cheese grater. Obviously, this also has a functional side. For example, if the temperature inside the aluminum chassis were to rise significantly, the ventilation grille could drain it to the outside.
Conceptual renders reveal a series of connectors at the rear of the structure. It’s the best connectivity scenario, but of course, we can’t say for sure if this will be the case with the final product. Either way, this is a Mac Pro, so expect the best. The new product may offer 6 Thunderbolt 3 USB-C ports, 4x USB-A ports, 2x HDMI, 2x Ethernet, and 1 MagSafe charging port.
According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the redesigned Mac Pro will come in 20 or 40 compute core variants. They will consist of 16 high-performance cores or 32 high-performance cores and four or eight high-efficiency cores. The chip will also include 64-core or 128-core options for graphics. The number of processing cores will exceed the maximum of 28 cores offered by today’s Intel Mac Pro chips. The high-end graphics chips will replace parts now made by Advanced Micro Devices Inc.
