In addition to the new Mi 10 and Mi Box 4K, Xiaomi also presented its new truly wireless earphones in India; we are talking about the Mi True Wireless Earphones 2, which offer incredible audio quality at a very affordable price. At a first glance, you can see how the design immediately recalls that of Apple’s AirPods, however, what is surprising is the hardware and software equipment of the new smart headphones of the Chinese manufacturer compared to the American competitor.

Mi True Wireless Earphones 2: the technical specifications

The new Mi True Wireless Earphones 2 has dynamic 14.2mm drivers. The Chinese giant claims to have inserted two microphones on each earpiece; the first, which is used to detect environmental noise in the surrounding environment, is placed at the top, while the second, inserted on the lower side of the stem itself, allows the detection of audio for calls.

The earphones are able to reduce the background noise of the environment by up to 90%; however, this feature only works during telephone conversations and not in other scenarios of use, such as listening to music, podcasts, or audiobooks.

The design is almost similar to that of AirPods competitors, also because, according to Xiaomi, there are few ways to represent a pair of truly wireless headphones with this form-factor. However, beyond aesthetics, the features onboard are truly innovative for a product in this sector.

Pairing is almost very fast, but it is not based on Google’s usual Fast Pair technology; if used on a device with MIUI on board, the pairing will be immediate. In addition, you can see the duration of each individual headset directly from the Xiaomi smartphone.

The earbuds offer an LHDC and AAC audio codec, in addition to the normal SBS BT codec. The connection is via Bluetooth 5.0 and has controls based on gestures that can only take place from the right headset; from playing to stopping music, to invoking Google Assistant or Siri. There is also the music interruption function when removing the earphone from the ear (the feature is valid on all devices and not only on those with the Xiaomi brand).

The battery of each driver is 30 mAh, while the case boasts a 250 mAh auxiliary battery, capable of providing over 10 hours of the total charge to the smart gadget. The low weight of 4.5 grams for each earphone will allow having a solid but extremely light product. There is no wireless charging, but only via USB type C cable.

Prices in India will be Rs. 4,499 but will be available for Rs 3,999 in the launch phase starting May 12th (until 17.05.2020)
