MediaTek announces the new Helio G85 chipset designed to offer optimal gaming performance even with cheap smartphones such as the Redmi Note 9. MediaTek has announced Helio G85, the new chipset intended to be mounted on the cheapest gaming phones and which, to be honest, is not so different from the Helio G80 that the company announced in February. The new chip is, in fact, similar to the previous one in most areas, with the main novelty being the GPU, slightly faster.
MediaTek Helio G85: the features
Earlier this year, MediaTek unveiled two new cheaper gaming phone chipsets, the Helio G70 and Helio G80, and now the Taiwanese chipmaker continues this path geared towards ensuring the best gaming performance even with smartphones within reach. all introducing the new Helio G85 chipset.
This is the processor we already told you about a few days ago, on the occasion of the launch of the first phone that mounts the new MediaTek chipset, the Redmi Note 9, announced last week, which other devices should soon follow.
It is a chipset equipped with an ARM Mali-G52 1 GHz GPU that introduces some connectivity improvements, thanks to HyperEngine technology, to offer an exceptional gaming experience. The chipset offers built-in voice reactivation (VoW) features, extremely accurate location information with inertial navigation, dual SIM 4G capability, Bluetooth 5.0, and support for 16MP + 16MP or single 48MP sensors.
Just like the Helio G80, the new Helio G85 uses two high-performance ARM Cortex-A75 cores that run at 2 GHz, paired with six 1.8 GHz Cortex-A55 cores.
The chipset is built using a 12nm process and boasts a “resource management engine” that intelligently manages CPU, GPU, and memory to extend battery life and ensure smooth performance.
MediaTek is expanding the Helio G family to offer device manufacturers more options in designing smartphones that offer an elite gaming experience. Helio G85 offers a combination of impressive performance, minimal power consumption, and a number of other game improvements so that users can enjoy fast and fluid gameplay.
